G4S has been conducting maritime security solutions since 2004 where we provided unarmed escort teams on board and maritime consultancy solutions. In 2010 an internal risk analysis was conducted and it was deemed too high risk to provide unarmed teams so the focus shifted to armed security.

Since then the threat of piracy has become an increasing problem and bigger threat to shipping operators worldwide. G4S has provided armed escort teams to a large range of companies and have protected all types of vessels with different ranges of speed and freeboard.
